Reading Workshop

Jungle Explorers! – MindChamps Parent-Child Reading Workshop
(for 3 to 4 years old)

Mummies, Daddies and their Little Champs will go on a jungle expedition and experience how Integrated Phonics (using songs, rhymes and poems), Listening & Reading Comprehension (through Immersive Reading Strategies) and Role Playing can come together in a fun and out of the box way. Experience how these jungle animals come alive in our story and extend our imagination. Through this Parent-Child workshop, parents will build a deeper bond with their Champs, learn techniques, brainstorm ideas to establish meaning through language. Champs will explore;

  • Speaking and listening through oral expression
  • Develop phonemic awareness
  • Identify beginning sounds
  • Kinaesthetic learning experience with the use of imagination
  • Creative craftwork to establish meaning
  • Introduction to penmanship using body movements


Monsters Alive! – MindChamps Reading Workshop
(for 5 to 6 years old)

Champs will go on a monster expedition and experience how Integrated Phonics (using songs, rhymes and poems) and Listening & Reading Comprehension (through Immersive Reading Strategies) can come together in a fun and out of the box way. Champs will explore;

  • Speaking and listening through oral expression
  • Introduction to digraphs
  • Kinaesthetic learning experience with the use of imagination
  • Creative craftwork to establish meaning
  • Building high frequency and vocabulary words
  • Creating sentences using self-check strategies

Writing Boot Camp

Improve your child’s creative writing by attending this writing boot camp. Your child will be taught to identify what it takes to produce a good piece of creative writing composition. Through hands-on activities, they will get to use their imagination and learn how to express their creativity and critical thinking in their writing!

Kindergarten 2

  • Exploring the fun filled theme of monsters
  • Using adjectives to describe a creature’s features and personality
  • Using physical stimuli to create a piece of writing
  • Grammar and punctuation exercises to hone foundational skills
Primary 1
  • Introduction of oneself through the use of descriptive words
  • Using adjectives to describe an object and emote feelings
  • Using multiple perspectives in writing
  • Expressing oneself using verbs and adjectives to share a real experience

Primary 2
  • Introduction of oneself through the use of descriptive language
  • Explaining a situation and the cause-and-effect of that situation
  • Writing a syllable poem to express a situation or feeling
  • Using verbs and adjectives to describe a scene
  • Using fine details to express an encounter

ACA Kids Boot Camp

This is a theme-based programme that uses: stories; songs; discussions; drama activities; craft work; movement; music and improvised adventures to develop Confidence, Creativity and Collaboration. Each day, your child will take home a craft created in class that is related to and used in their themed adventure activities.

In this boot camp, your child will:
  • Learn to build characterisation through acting techniques based on the individual themes.
  • Improve emotional control through emotion-based explorations.
  • Improve vocal projection and oral language skills by speaking in front of their friends and in group settings.
  • Develop the confidence to express their ideas through open discussions, storytelling and improvisation.
  • Explore language and develop comprehension skills by taking part in interactive storytelling.
  • Develop gross motor skills through drama, songs and movement.
  • Develop collaboration skills by listening and accepting others’ ideas through various team-based theatrical activities.
  • Develop creativity by participating in exciting, improvised adventures.
  • Take home a daily craft related to and used in their themed adventure activities.

For K1 and K2


This is a creativity and acting skills-based programme that uses: stories; discussions; drama activities; movement; music; improvised activities, scenes and adventures to develop Confidence, Creativity and Collaboration. Every day your kid gets the opportunity to use, explore and engage with various props and costume pieces from the Creativity Chest. These items are used as a stimulus to create monologues, dialogues and improvised scenes. The Creativity Chest allows your kids to push their creative limits and lets their ideas soar!

In this boot camp, your child will:
  • Learn and expand characterisation through acting techniques based on the individual mini themes.
  • Improve and build emotional control through emotion-based acting explorations.
  • Improve vocal projection and oral language skills by learning proper vocal projection techniques, speaking in front of others and in a group setting.
  • Develop the confidence to express their ideas through open discussions, storytelling and improvisation.
  • Explore spoken language and their ideas by taking part in interactive storytelling and discussions.
  • Develop collaboration skills by actively listening, accepting others’ ideas, and developing teamwork through a multitude of theatrical activities.
  • Develop and cultivate creativity through improvised practical activities, scenes and adventures.
  • Use props and costume pieces from the Creativity Chest each day to create monologues, dialogues and improvised scenes.

Thinking Cap Workshop

Through MindChamps’ proprietary Thinking Cap Programme, you can empower your child with the crucial learning, thinking and communication skills needed to excel in school and beyond. This fun-filled workshop is specially designed to introduce the Champion Mindset to P3 – P6 students. Students will gain self-directed learning skills, creative problem-solving, divergent thinking skills and boost their confidence though exciting activities.

Objectives
  • To introduce the champion mindset and how it can influence a child positively
  • To gain confidence through self-awareness and creativity exercises

In this workshop
  • To direct learners towards creative flexibility and fluency and minimise barriers to creative thoughts
  • To build emotional resilience, effective communication skills, and affirmative behaviour patterns
  • Use of drama/story-telling/metaphors to illustrate the main focus of the lesson plan
  • To develop visual perception skills through fun activities and games
  • Brain Gym exercises are carried out in class to help develop child’s loco motor movements and increase alertness.
  • Use of Visualisation to engage a child’s imagination and helps children to focus and concentrate better

MCA Chinese Cultural Camp – Cross-Cultures: Thanksgiving

Let us bring your child travel back in time to explore the beauty and wonders of the Chinese language and Culture through fun and interactive activities. This is a creativity, improvisation and acting skills-based workshop that uses stories, folk vocal art form – clapper talk; movement; hand craft and role playing to develop Confidence, Creativity and Collaboration within your child. While every child recounts their Halloween experience fondly, there’s another celebration, Thanksgiving, which educates children to be grateful and appreciative is an important value we should expose every child from a young age. During this camp, students will learn about Thanksgiving through fun and interactive activities. This immersive session focuses on creativity, improvisation and acting skills through the use of stories; drama activities; word puzzles; folk vocal art form - clapper talk and bamboo strips artwork (P2 students); movement; hand craft and role playing to develop Confidence, Creativity and Collaboration. As the highlight of the workshop, students will enact a short performance for parents to enjoy at the end of the camp. So parents, be part of this learning experience and let your child shine!

During this 2 day workshop, your child will learn:
  • Fun with Di Zi Gui and understanding the story of Thanksgiving Day
  • Reading of Thanksgiving Nursery Rhyme with traditional clapper talk
  • Traditional Bamboo strips writing and painting (P2 Students Only)
  • Hand Craft Thanksgiving decorations, clay making and role playing
  • Learning how Thanksgiving Day are celebrated in different countries through interactive and fun games
  • A performance titled “Cross-Culture Thanksgiving”

A minumum of six (6) students is needed to start the workshop/trial class. Any workshop with less than six (6) will be closed or participants may choose to reschedule the workshop/ trial class at the next available workshop/ trial class. Due to limited seats, all seat confirmation is based on a first-come, first-served basis with 100% payment of the workshop/ trial class. No refund will be allowed when there is a “no-show” on the day of workshop. MindChamps Singapore reserve the rights to make any changes to the workshop, amend timing, availability, venues according to the programme requirements and its terms and condition without prior notice.
